GPR Conduit Locating Under Cement
When Cleveland Cement needed
to saw-cut trenches at the Marymount Sports Health Clinic
in Garfield Heights, OH, they first called GPRS, Inc. to
locate conduits and pipes under the concrete. GPRS arrived
the next day and scanned 8 areas totaling approximately
2,000 sq. ft. GPRS uses ground penetrating radar to locate
conduits inside of concrete slabs and under slabs on grade.
GPRS technicians also use an RD-4000 utility locator to
locate live power and communications lines and to double
check their findings.

Jamie is using the GPR concrete imaging
system to locate electrical conduits that are
intersecting
the path of saw cutting at a construction project in Cleveland,
OH.
Jamie Althauser was able to locate
electrical conduits under the concrete at this project.
Our services proved to be especially valuable for Cleveland
Cement because many of these conduits were in contact with
the bottom of the slab and would have been easily severed
if the cutting were to have taken place without the GPR
inspection. GPRS marked the exact locations of the conduits
onto the surface of the concrete along with depths and the
concrete thickness to assist the saw cutters.

Concrete imaging for the location of electrical conduits
prior to saw cutting is a common application for our GPR
technicians.
